Comparison
Three approaches to filtering drinking water at home
Jug filters, tap-mounted systems and under-sink systems, compared honestly.

Jug filters
Cheapest to start, no fitting, and easy to live with for one or two people. The drawbacks are capacity, the wait while water passes through, and remembering to refill.
Tap-mounted systems
Filtered water at the tap without plumbing work, and removable when you move. Fitting compatibility is the main thing to check before buying.
Under-sink systems
Often the most convenient day to day and the least visible, at the cost of installation and a permanent change under the sink.
How to compare them fairly
Compare installation type, compatibility, maintenance, replacement parts, space, ongoing cartridge cost and — most importantly — what testing sits behind any performance figure a manufacturer publishes.
